Session Overview:
Skin manifestations of rheumatic disease are common. This session will present 6 clinical cases involving the cutaneous manifestations of rheumatic diseases and their treatment. The range of diseases covered will include vascular disorders, dermatomyositis, sclerotic conditions, and skin drug reactions. Clinical features, importance of histopathology and treatment approaches will be covered and presented for discussion amongst attendees.

Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:

  • identify common and unusual cutaneous manifestations of rheumatic disease
  • describe the possible role of the dermatologist in co-management of these conditions
  • recognize the value and limitations of skin biopsy
