076 - Rheumatoid Arthritis: Challenging Cases

Session Type: ACR Meet the Professor Sessions
Tuesday, November 8, 2011: 12:45 PM-2:15 PM
W185d (McCormick Place West)

Session Overview:
Treatment to a target in hope of inducing disease remission is becoming standard of care in rheumatoid arthritis. However, we have limited information on which patients may respond to which therapies and patient comorbidities influence treatment decisions. This session will focus on the approach to treatment for patients at risk for poor outcome and explore the treatment options for patients with comorbidities who are at greater risk for complications of treatment.

Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:

  • discuss the management of patients with refractory rheumatoid arthritis
  • identify novel treatment options for those failing conventional therapies
  • create effective management plans for complicated rheumatoid arthritis patients
