Regular quantitative measurement of disease activity with resulting treatment changes enables more effective management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Given the heterogeneous biology of RA, a test based on biomarkers involved in RA pathophysiology has the potential to provide a comprehensive picture of biological disease activity. Studies show a multi-biomarker test can provide quantitative and reproducible information about RA disease activity.
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:
- understand the role of biomarkers in measuring rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity
- understand the studies behind the development and validation of a multi-biomarker RA disease activity test
- understand the clinical utility of a multi-biomarker test for RA disease activity
